Client Overview
When it comes to tax compliance, few companies have the global reach and reputation of Sovos, a global leader in tax compliance and regulatory reporting, trusted by more than 100,000 businesses, including half of the Fortune 500, across nearly 200 countries. Its Compliance Cloud powers e-invoicing, VAT determination and reporting, withholding, and other digital tax mandates for enterprises worldwide.
The Challenge
In Mexico, those requirements take the form of CFDI, a strict e-invoicing system run by the country’s tax authority. Every invoice must be prepared in a precise digital format, submitted for real-time approval, and “stamped” with a unique identifier before it becomes legally valid. Miss a detail, and the transaction can be rejected, delaying payments, creating compliance risks, and adding costly rework.
While Sovos already provided full compliance coverage for Mexico’s Comprobante Fiscal Digital por Internet (CFDI) e-invoicing requirements, its NetSuite customers faced a challenge: connecting the ERP to Mexico’s tax authority (SAT) in a way that automated stamping, validation, and lifecycle management, without leaving the NetSuite environment.
Our Solution
To address this, Sovos partnered with Initus Technologies, an expert in ERP integration and automation, to simplify and accelerate the NetSuite–SAT connection. Using its low-code, retry-safe InitusIO® platform, Initus built a custom NetSuite–CFDI connector that embeds Mexican e-invoicing compliance directly into NetSuite, powered by Sovos’s regulatory APIs.
This partnership allowed Sovos to maintain its focus on delivering world-class compliance logic and certification services, while Initus provided the ERP-embedded automation layer that NetSuite users needed, so invoices flow seamlessly from NetSuite to Sovos’s platform, get validated and stamped by SAT, and return automatically, without users ever leaving the system.
Results & Impact
The impact was immediate. Invoices sailed through SAT approval on the first submission, 100% of the time. Processing times dropped by 70%, freeing finance teams to focus on more strategic work. Manual corrections fell by 85%, virtually eliminating the compliance headaches that once slowed down cash flow.
For Sovos, the project strengthened its ability to serve NetSuite customers in Mexico with a fast, reliable, and fully compliant process, one that could also be adapted for other countries with complex e-invoicing rules. For Initus, it was a chance to prove how their integration expertise and low-code platform could make world-class compliance tools feel like a native part of any ERP.
Client Feedback
In the words of Randy Satterfield, Sovos’s Director of Product Management for APIs and Integrations:
“Initus Technologies navigated the intricacies of Mexico’s e-invoicing requirements and, in record time, delivered a turnkey NetSuite connector with minimal lift on our side. Their InitusIO-based approach gave us confidence in both compliance and performance.”
